How can I contact Alresford Crafts?
Alresford Crafts once produced high quality soft toys here in the town but they closed their business thirty years ago and the toys are no longer produced. Unfortunately we do not have any contact details for them or anybody who used to work there. We're afraid we have no idea what these items might now be worth and are not aware of anybody locally who can value them although we have seen toys appearing on e-bay from time-to-time but they do not seem to attract a premium over there original purchase price. Also we are not aware of anybody who can repair or renew them. There is some information and old catalogues on the Alresford Museum's website at www.museum.alresford.org
Can you send me some brochures or leaflets?
The web site was set up and is run on a voluntary basis and we do not have the resources, financial or otherwise, to send out publicity. All available information is contained within the web site and is more comprehensive than the information contained in published material.
Do you have any information on Mr or Mrs X?
We do not have access to any information that is not freely available to anybody who has Internet access, e.g. telephone records, electoral rolls, census data, etc. and unless the individual was a prominent citizen of Alresford it is unlikely that we will be able to provide any information. We have neither the time or resources to undertake genealogical research necessary to answer questions.
Questions about Watercress
We are not experts on Watercress, Watercress Recipes or Watercress Marketing. Whilst we are surrounded by Watercress and host the annual Watercress Festival we do not have the information to reliably answer questions. Please see www.watercress.co.uk
Can we travel directly to Alresford by train?
The nearest networked railway stations are Winchester and Alton and there is a bus service, at least once per hour during the day to Alresford (except Sunday every 2 hours). The Watercress Line heritage steam railway connects with the main line at Alton but there are no through trains. The Watercress Line does not run a regular passenger service from Alton to Alresford, it is mainly a visitor attraction, but timetable details are available at www.watercressline.co.uk
