About Alresford
'The ford over the river where the alder trees grow.'

Alresford Community Cardiac Defibrillator Scheme

You may have noticed the sudden appearance of yellow boxes around the town. These boxes contain modem cardiac defibrillators which can be used in the event of sudden collapse and cardiac arrest.

In the case of an emergency it is important to still call 999

This will give you immediate support and enable the rapid dispatch of an ambulance to your location. In addition, the ambulance service will be able to give you the key code number to unlock the cabinet and access the detibrillator. The device will give clear instructions for use by way of an audio-visual display panel and requires no training. You cannot cause harm with this machine and it will not deliver a shock unless absolutely necessary.

There are now publicly accessible units at:

  • Alresford Recreation Centre
  • Alresford Bowling Club
  • Sun Hill Infant school gate
  • Stratton Bates Recreation Ground
  • Cedar Vets., New Farm Road
  • Alresford Community Centre
  • Alresford Dental Care - The Dean
  • Old Alresford Village telephone box
  • Linnets Road telephone box (from December 2015)

This project was conceived and primarily financed by The Alresford Pigs Association with additional financial support from The Alresford Recreational Centre Social club and the Alresford Rugby and Football Clubs. Additional support was also given by the Alresford Tennis Club. The Alresford Bowling club have financed their unit and kindly made it accessible to the public as have the Old Alresford Parish Council.

The scheme is monitored and maintained by local residents with the support of the Community Heartbeat Trust who will be running Awareness Session - Saturday 14th November 10am to 12.30pm Main Room of Alresford Recreation Centre.
