Alresford Action Plan

TRANSPORT

The Transport Group objective was to make recommendations for an outline traffic plan which met the reasonable aspirations of the majority of residents and employers/employees in the town, having regard to current problems and likely future developments. The work was undertaken against the background of public concern about parking, significant heavy lorry movements throughout the main town routes and annually increasing private cars use.

Establish a means for the supervision and maintenance of footpaths and footways to a satisfactory and safe standard, probably by delegating work responsibility and funding to NATC from HCC.

Set up regular monitoring of speed by Police, with high profile speed checks and follow up legal action against offenders on sensitive roads.
